The Disappearing face of New York by James and Karla Murray

Store Fronts Feb 21, 2009 at 08:14
NY based duo James and Karla Murray know their shit when it comes to photography. The pair photograph for the likes of Peel and Mass Appeal magazines and have had their works exhibited in galleries throughout New York and Miami. Most of their images are focused on the urban setting and particularly NYC.

In the series we’re featuring today, Store Fronts, the couple chose to document the colourful and tiring shop facades of their home town. The amazing collection captures everything from the humble neighbourhood store to well known institutions of New York City. Awesome stuff. One thing that strikes me about the stores, is some of the amazing typography and signage from back in the day… it definitely feels like a lost art form.

The images are available in a 336-page book and as prints for purchase. Anyway check out some samples from this collection to the right of this post and for more info on James and Karla and their other works (which are well worth checking out) visit jamesandkarlamurray.com
